Tales of Suspense #39
The
first appearance of IronMan is actually Tales of Suspense #39, which was
released back in 1963. Though many collectors seek out the well known, IronMan #1 issue (released in 1968), IronMan's first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39
is the real holy grail.
Current street value (Wizard Magazine) for
Tales of Suspense #39 is $7,000. Issue #40 dawns the first appearance of
IronMan's gold costume, and is valued at $2,200. If these original IronMan
appearances are too expensive for your taste, you can always try and get a copy
of IronMan #1, which is valued at $480, a small fraction of his original
appearance in Tales of Suspense #39.
